THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

A man was seated beside a Priest watching the local boxing matches. He noticed one boxer, before the first round, knelt to pray. The man leaned over to the Priest and asked, "Do you suppose God will help him win the fight?"

The priest said, "I think that depends on how good a boxer he is."

Ps 85:6-9
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? 7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation. 8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. 9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
(KJV)

The word "revive" in verse 6 means to "make alive," "restore," or "refresh."

Today, the condition of the world DEPENDS on the condition of the church.

The Condition of the World:
majority non-religious, no thought of God,
a theft every 20 seconds,
a rape every 36 seconds,
a murder every 2 minutes.
The Condition of the Church:
some workers who care and are involved in ministry,
((thank God for these!))
some who have no concept of sin -- calling it failure, or shortcoming, or error -- anything but SIN,
some who are "at EASE in Zion," unconcerned about the world, content to have "Fire Insurance."

But the salvation of the world DEPENDS upon the CONDITION of the church! Jesus said, "Ye are the salt of the earth,,,,,Ye are the light of the world..." (Matt. 5:13-14)

We need to cry out like the psalmist for God to REVIVE us again! We need to make our plea PERSONAL --"Let revival begin in ME!" (verse 7)

When the church is revived, and empowered afresh by the Holy Spirit, the world will be TROUBLED by sin!

Only an awesome, people-changing, movement of the wind of God's Holy Spirit can change the lax body of the church to be a causative agent in the remodeling of a sin-infested world!

PRAY FOR REVIVAL!

Love ya,
Bruce
