THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

((This cute story was sent in by my friend, Amanda T.))

My dad loved fishing.

He died when I was 19. But when I was like 10, he and my uncle went out all day on a fishing trip and didn't catch a thing.

They were sunburned from head to toe. When they got back, my dad gave me a Mickie Mouse rod and reel.

I went right over to the bank and caught a five-pound bass.

Needless to say, my daddy was not too happy with me....ha ha!

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

During the time between Jesus' resurrection and ascension, He appeared to the disciples on several occasions. But the disciples were told they must "wait for the promise" of God's Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4).

Peter could stand the waiting no longer. He was a man of activity.
Therefore, he made the announcement.

Peter was certainly not returning to his old vocation. The words "I go" suggest a temporary venture.

But "that night they caught nothing!"

This opened the door, so to speak, for Christ to intervene again in their lives.
As they were heading to shore in the morning, Jesus showed up.
He told them to "Cast the net on the right side of the ship" (John 21:6), and they would find fish.

Sometimes we find ourselves waiting, for what seems a long time, on the Lord.
And we might even determine to do something - anything.
But nothing is what we get out of it.

It's best to wait until we have a clear plan from the Lord.
Then, what happens will be of HIS making!

Love ya,
Bruce
