Have you ever noticed that sometimes managers communicate messages that don't really make sense? For instance....

"This project is so important we can't let things that are more important interfere with it." (Advertising/Marketing manager, United Parcel Service)

Gen 28:10-15
10 And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

Sometimes God's communications with us don't seem to make sense. God is not about common sense or logic, God is about FAITH!

Once, after a teacher had been explaining this particular passage of Scripture, a child asked, "Why did the angels walk up and down the ladder? Don't they have wings?"

Well, I think the real meaning of this passage is that there is OPEN COMMUNICATIONS with God, and sometimes angels assist.

That doesn't mean we pray to angels, or through angels. But it does mean that sometimes angels may PROD us to pray! And sometimes we NEED prodding! Jacob had come to an unfamiliar place. But he lay down to sleep without thought of praying. This "dream" caused him to realize the value of communicating with God!

God, through this vision, promises Jacob the blessing of Abraham. All that Isaac had prophesied through his blessing is now promised by the Lord Himself. Notice in verse 15 that God promises His PRESENCE. He will NOT leave Jacob until all He has promised happens.

Neither will God leave us until He has accomplished His purpose in us. Then He doesn't leave us, He takes us HOME! "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." (Eph 1:13-14)

Prayer is important!
Don't forget to communicate with God!

Love ya,
Bruce
