THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The husband came home from work to his wife of 5 years. She was sitting on the couch looking a little troubled. He asked what was the matter.

She said, "Well, you know we've gotten used to just 4 feet in our house. What if I told you that soon we'll be hearing 6 feet?"

The man became excited. He said, "Oh! That's GOOD NEWS!"

She said, "I'm really glad to hear that," as she got up and gave him a kiss. "Mother is coming to spend a couple of weeks with us."

Ps 78:58-61
58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
59 When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
60 So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
61 And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.

Psalm 78 is a sort of historical song and the central theme is God's jealousy for His people.
God loved Israel enough that He saved them from slavery.
He gave them water to drink from a rock, and they were upset because of the harshness of the wilderness.
He gave them manna, called "angel's food," and they complained.
He gave them flesh to eat by sending birds in the wilderness, and they over ate.
He gave them His law so they would walk with Him in truth, and they despised the paramaters.
He led them to the "promised land," but they refused to go forward in faith, choosing unbelief instead.

God determined to "turn" His people back to Him and "forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh," which was the sanctuary in the wilderness!

Listen Christians! God is jealous for your love!
He has saved you from sin's deadly end - hell.
He payed the price to take you from the slavery of sin in His own blood!
He endowed you with His Holy Spirit so that you could learn His Word.
He filled you with the "hope of heaven," and assured you of your Name in His book of books.
He entrusted the "body of Christ," (the church) to you.
He has spelled out His mission to evangelize the world.

Jesus is jealous of your love - be committed to Him above all others.
He has betrothed you as His "bride" - be faithful.
Jesus is jealous of your trust - "lean not unto thine own understanding."
He is jealous of your company - spend time in prayer.

God has NOT CHANGED!
Look upon His jealousy as a comfort to your heart! He has promised, "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Heb 13:5)

Choose not the way of unbelief.
Go forward in love, faith and trust.

Love ya,
Bruce
