THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A cowboy at the "Dude" ranch saw one of the visiting city slickers saddling the horse. He walked over to help, and said, "Say there friend! Yore puttin' the saddle on backwards!"

The city slicker remained undaunted. He said, "That's what you think. You don't know which way I'm going!"

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

Jesus DOES know which way we're going!
And He calls us to follow Him!

Matthew placed the example of his call from Jesus right after the miracle of Jesus healing a man of palsy. Perhaps Matthew placed it there to show that his call to salvation was as much a miracle as healing the man of palsy!

Matthew speaks of himself as a "publican," a tax collector.
All the other Jewish people scorned him because of his profession, even if he were a Jew too.

There's a similarity between the miraculous healing of the palsied man and Matthew's conversion. Matthew needed a command from God to be healed of his spiritual condition, just as the palsied man needed a command from God to be healed of his physical condition.

Likewise, there's a similarity between Matthew's call from Jesus and EVERY person's call from Jesus. ALL of us were sinners, headed in the wrong direction; but Jesus came calling!

Aren't you glad Jesus came calling for you?!

Love ya,
Bruce
