THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Two men went to the train station with a friend. The train was late, so they sat down for a cup of coffee. They talked and forgot about the train.

Suddenly they heard the last announcement about the departing train. They all jumped up and began running. They ran down track as the train was pulling away. Two of the men made it on the last car, but the third stopped because he was laughing so hard.

Someone asked, "Why are you laughing? You've missed your train."

He said, "Yes. I've missed my train. But those two just came to see me off!"

Ps 1:1-4
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Time is important. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our time that we forget the most important things we are supposed to DO with our time. Have you caught the wrong train?

A key ingredient to Christian growth is BIBLE STUDY.

Bible study is what gives Christians their unique ability to handle difficult situations.
It is what keeps Christians from walking WITH the "ungodly."
It is what keeps Christians from standing WITH "sinners."
It is what keeps Christians from sitting WITH the "scornful."

Growing Christians are unique! They have deep character that is not easily wavered by tempting circumstances. They are stronger in morality and are not easily swayed by other people. They have wisdom beyond their formal education. They have a joy that is constant and a hope that is never dashed.

Why are these things true? Because the growing Christian is meditating upon the Word of God! God's Word reveals Who He is. God's Word also tells us what He wants from us. And God's Word gives us principles by which to live.

The key ingredient to Christian growth is time spent in genuine Bible study that leads to reflective thought and action. As a result, growing Christians stand firm, produce spiritual "fruit," and "prosper" in whatever they do. It is the action of God's Spirit using His Word as we learn.

Take note of verse 4. "The UNgodly are NOT so...."

Yes. People can tell if the key ingredient is not present.

Love ya,
