THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Do you know why Washington, DC has so many one-way streets?
It's so that all the government workers coming to work late won't collide with those going home early!

2 Peter 1:2-4
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Peter emphasizes the "knowledge" of God through the personal revelation of Jesus Christ. Jesus is God in the flesh, God incarnate. So the more we know about Jesus, the more we will know about God.
One point Peter expresses is that EVERYTHING we have concerning "life and godliness" comes through the "knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue."
All that we know about life (real life) comes through knowing Jesus.
We are created beings, and have our being by the power of Jesus.
All that we know about "godliness" (character and conduct) comes by knowing Jesus.
Jesus has called us to "glory and virtue," or to honor and praise. He has called us to receive the indwelling presence of God!
And, it is through the indwelling presence of God that we receive "great and precious promises." We have the promises of God's love, forgiveness, redemption, and eternal salvation through Jesus!
We also have the privilege of God's "divine nature" being IN us by His indwelling presence. Certainly, it is by this indwelling that we ultimately shall receive the escape of our sinfulness and the honor and praise of eternal living in the glorious New Jerusalem.
But it is also through the indwelling of His presence that we presently escape "the corruption that is in the world through lust."
According to Ephesians 2:1, God's Holy Spirit indwelling "quickens" (or brings to life) our souls which were "dead in trespasses and sin!"
We are "renewed in the spirit of your (our) mind!" (Ephesians 4:23).
We are given "liberty" and set free from the bondage of corruption (Galatians 5:1).
KNOW Jesus!
KNOW Him better each day!
Love ya,
Bruce
