THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

If all the cars in the United States were placed end to end, it would probably be Labor Day Weekend. Doug Larson

Yes. And I might add: Especially if Hurricane Gustav is headed toward the Southern coasts of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.

Matt 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Labor Day is a United States Federal Holiday observed on the first Monday in September. The holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union (of New York City) sought to create "a day off for the working citizens". Congress made Labor Day an official holiday, and all fifty states have followed suit.

We need rest. That's one of the reasons why Labor Day was made an official holiday. Labor is much easier, on a day-to-day basis, when we are rested and have a good outlook on life.

It is a day when we can cease from the intrinsic cares of the work place. A day when we can concentrate solely upon the "peace" of being with God and family.

Every day with Jesus can be a "rest" day! Finding peace with Him gives us peace in our heart - our spirit.

Knowing Christ at the center of our hearts makes everything else revolve in a more effective manner. Because we know, as we face the daily difficulties of life, we have that knowledge that ONE DAY it'll all be over. We'll be with Jesus forever.

That knowledge can be carried into the labor of the work place EVERY day!

Let us spend time with Jesus every day before going to the work place.

Remember: Prayer is oil for the "daily grind."

Love ya,
Bruce
