THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

The judge instantly recognized the man brought in for prosecution as an old high school friend.

He asked, "Sir, do you realize that your confession convicts you of wrongdoing and demands justice."

"Yes, your honor," said the man, "and I ask only for mercy."

The judge pronounced sentence of 'guilty,' and stated a fine and restitution to be made. Then the judge promptly dismissed court. Taking off his robes, he approached the clerk and said, "I will pay his fine, and make his restitution."

Then the judge took the thief home with him.
After seeing the man received a bath, fresh clothes and a meal; the judge sat down to talk to him. The man finally recognized the judge as his old high school friend.

The judge said, "As a Christian, it would be improper for me to exact lawful punishment from you and not introduce you to the Savior."

The judge began to tell the man of Jesus. Soon, in tears, the man made a profession of faith and was gloriously saved. As he met the Savior, he began a new life!

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

Moses met with God on the mountain to receive the law.
When he came down, all the people were afraid of him.

Jesus was transfigured on the mountain before His disciples.
When He came down, all the people ran to Him!

The law exhibits God's justness.
It convicts us, and causes the fear of God to grip our souls.

Jesus exhibits God's mercy and grace.
He lovingly assures our souls of God's desire to save us and give us eternal life and peace.

The law leads us to Jesus.
The exactness of God's character displayed in the law provides a silhouette of One Who is not only just, but also compassionate. For, if God is perfect, then He must be forgiving!

The God of justness is also the God of forgiveness.
He Who gave the law, died under the law to pay man's penalty for sin!

Oh Lord, let the conviction of your law lead us to confession of and commitment to the Savior of love!

Love ya,
Bruce
