THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

When Dad and I were traveling to and from a golf course, or to and from the Shreveport VA Hosp., he loved to ask me theological questions and get a discussion going.

Sometimes, I think he did that just to see if I really knew!

Once, I thought I’d “turn the tables” on him.

So I asked him, “Dad, where’d Cain get his wife?”

He looked at me with those icy blue eyes and said, “Same place Adam got his….God PROVIDED!”

Our lives, on this earth, are a pilgrimage.

We are to LIVE life as though it is a short journey.

In that short journey we may experience many difficulties.

But we are on a short journey, heading somewhere else!

That “somewhere else,” for we who believe in Jesus, is heaven, the New Jerusalem; with streets of gold, and where Jesus will comfort us from our pilgrimage and give us eternal life with Him.

Now, that short lesson comes to you, courtesy of “Burt” McGee.

When I was about 10 years old, Dad taught that lesson to our family in the same living room where he died.

He would come home early on Fridays, and we’d all eat supper together. Then, us kids would get on the floor in the living room, and Dad would sit down with the Bible.

He’d read a passage of Scripture, and then he’d teach a principle from that Scripture.

That was one of the lessons I remember.

Let it be one you remember too.

Love ya,
Bruce
