THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A lady obtained a cat from the local pound which was sponsored by the Humane Society. She brought the cat back about two weeks later saying they couldn't keep it.
She said, "I'm sorry, but the cat is a bird-killer. We just can't keep a cat like that. I'm sure my husband would make a donation to the Humane Society, however he's up in Colorado hunting deer!"

Ps 27:1
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
KJV

*********************************************************************************************

This is a personal statement. David says the Lord is "my light," "my salvation," because He has experienced first-hand the Lord's loving salvation and joy. He is ASSURED that the evidence of salvation is the "light" of the Lord shining in the soul.

Have you personally experienced God in your life through surrender to Jesus as LORD?

You'll note that David doesn't say that the Lord IS light, even though He certainly is. But David indicates that God GIVES light to his soul. When regeneration begins in the soul, God's "light" shines IN! It also begins to shine OUT!

Then David asks a question: "whom shall I fear?" The answer is obvious - NO one! If God is light and He transmits light into us and from us, how shall we fear the darkness of the devil and the world? God's light destroys the condemnation of sin, and assures of the forgiveness and eternal salvation of the soul.

This light does not come by our power, but by the power of Him to Whom we surrender.

David also says, "the lord is the strength of my life." Our life is sustained by the life of God and His omnipotent power! My life, your life, does not depend on our own strength, but on the strength of God Himself. He IS our strength.

"Of whom shall I be afraid?" Certainly not the devil, for Jesus has defeated him! Certainly not the "king" or president, for he would not be if it weren't for God!

AH! The only person whom I should fear is myself! For I am the only one who can weaken God's hold on me by unbelief or by purposeful sin.

Let us walk in assurance with Christ today!
He is our LIGHT!
He is our STRENGTH!
Let us not fear, but rather be BOLD for His sake!

Love ya,
Bruce
