THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

An older minister was giving instruction to a younger minister.
He said, "In every group which you teach, there'll probably be one person who'll want to argue with you."

The young minister asked, "And how shall I respond?"

The older minister said, "Well, your first impulse will be to cut him off. But I suggest you think twice about that. He's probably the only one listening!"

The Hebrew word for "Observe" is shamar, and means "hedge about."
The Hebrew word for "hear" is shama', and means listen to obey.

With what God has given us in the Bible, we are to "hedge about" our lives.
With what God has given us in the Bible, we are to listen to obey.

Christians are to be "separate" (2Cor. 6:17) from the world, and not worship idols.
Christians are to exhibit their love for Christ by keeping His commandments (John 14:15).

God reveals Himself in His Holy Word.
We come to know Him more as we study His Word.
And, by study of His Word, we build around us a "hedge" that will keep us different from the world. That "hedge" will make us more like our Lord, Jesus.

God also reveals His plan for the church in His Word.
We come to learn more of God's plan as we study His Word.
Thus, we learn how to: tell others of Jesus; comfort others in their sorrow; and, minister to others in their need.

Through the Bible, God is telling Christians how to live according to His plan.

The question is: Are we listening?

Love ya,
Bruce
