Heb 11:13
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

In the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, we find a list of the "Heroes of Faith" in the Old Testament. Some were: "stoned, ... sawn asunder, ... slain with the sword..." (Heb. 11:37) And all were "tempted."
But the common thread to all of them was that they "died in faith"!! (Heb. 11:13)
They lived believing Messiah would come.
Though they "received not the promise" (Heb. 11:39) in their lifetime, yet,
they still "died in faith"!!
Those great old saints "were persuaded" of the promises of God.
They "embraced" the promises of God.
And, they lived by the promises of God!
Though they were sinners all, as the record clearly shows, they believed their sins were forgiven.
Though they faced dangers, difficulties and severe trials daily, they lived believing the presence of God was in their lives.
Let us, saved by grace through Christ, live by that faith which declares Him God.
Let us, who have testimony of His resurrection, base our lives upon His truths.
And, let us, who yearn for His return, tell the precious Gospel until we die "in faith"!!
Love ya,
Bruce
