THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Mark and Zana Elliott are missionaries with Mercy Ships (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercy_Ships)

Mark writes some very informative and humorous stuff about some of his mission work.

Yesterday, I received the following about a recent trip to Benin, West Africa.

"I went to one clinic on my 2nd day and under a wood pile I could hear all this rustling. Now I know what you're thinking, I should step back from it and leave it alone. Well your obviously not me.

I got a big stick and from a distance lifted up a piece of plywood and about 50 lizards jumped out running on their back legs and came right for me.

Ok I'm told by my interpreter that:
1. for a big man I’m very fast
2. for a big man I can sound like a little girl.

Before you judge me, you should have seen these things. It was my Jurassic park moment of my life."

I can imagine Mark's startled response at something with which he was totally unfamiliar.

Many times in our lives we're faced with a similar set of circumstances. We actually are "overwhelmed" by such an experience.

When that happens, we need HELP!
We need GOD'S help!!

David, in this psalm, gives a very good example of how we are to be prepared for such an occasion. We are NEVER fully prepared physically, mentally and emotionally for something which totally stymies us!

But we CAN be prepared spiritually!

David had made a spiritual decision.
He said, "From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee!!"

This spiritual decision was to call upon God ANYTIME something stymied him!

Have you made that spiritual decision?
Have you notified your body, brain and heart that the moment something "hits you like a ton of bricks," you are to turn to God for help?

Take time to do that today.
Then, when something happens, you'll be better prepared.
Because you'll be committed to God!

And God will put your spiritual feet upon the Solid ROCK, which is JESUS!

Love ya,
Bruce
