THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Everyone sings along: "Oh! Give me a home, where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play...."
However, the "buffalo" we have in the United States are properly called Bison. "Buffalo" are actually indigenous to Africa (cape buffalo) and Asia (water buffalo).
And, the "antelope" is not found in the U.S. More than likely the "antelope" referred to in the song is the pronghorn deer.
Now, try to change the words of the song to make them rhyme!
"Oh! Give me a home, where the bison roam, and the deer and the pronghorn play." Doesn't sound the same does it?

Isaiah 63:7-9
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesss.
8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

Notice in verse 9, that it is the "angel of His presence" who saved Israel. When Israel first entered "The Promised Land," God appeared to Joshua as "The Captain of the host." (Joshua 5:13-15) He was, and is, the "angel of His presence."
And when God came to offer the fullness of salvation by the cross, He came in the Person of Jesus Christ. There, He fought the battle for the forgiveness of sin. There, God proved that He could offer His perfection for our imperfection, and conquer the foes of sin and death! Jesus, and Jesus alone, is the "angel of His presence." He is the "image of the invisible God." (Col 1:15)
Jesus is "the Good Shepherd" of the sheep of God (John 10:11) Who "giveth his life for the sheep." He received our "affliction" upon Himself, and "in His pity", He "redeemed" us. He paid the price to set us free, and it was for freedom that He did so (Galatians 5:1).
He, Jesus, came that He might FREE us from the bondage and power of sin! He, Personally, broke the chains which enslave us to sin. And He gave the power whereby we are able to "Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free." (Galatians 5:1)
Therefore, let us who are the "called" remain in our "calling" (1Corinthians 7:20-23)!!
And the manner in which we "Stand fast" in that freedom is "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith." (Heb 12:2)
"Mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD!!"
Lift up verbally "the praises of the LORD!!"
By doing these two things, we shall maintain our focus upon Jesus Who has given us "great goodness"!!
Love ya,
