THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

Many years ago, before veterinarians had fancy tools, a farmer's mule became ill. He wanted to save him because he was such a good plowing mule. So he asked the vet what to do.

The vet gave the farmer some very large pills, and told him to give them to the mule three times a day. The farmer asked how he was supposed to get the pills down the mule's throat.

The vet said, "Take a piece of 1/2 inch pipe, put the pills in it. Then put the pipe down the mule's throat, and blow on the pipe.

The farmer came back to the vet's office about 4 hours later looking terribly ill! The vet asked, "What happened to you? You might need to see a doctor."

The farmer said, "The mule BLEW FIRST!"

There's a really strong ole spiritual "mule" (called "the devil) out there that wreaks havoc with life if we let him. He just loves to plow furrows down the backs of Christians.

God's instruction to His people has always been, "Don't give him a foothold!" God told Cain "....sin lieth at the door. And to thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him." (Genesis 4:7)

Keep the door CLOSED! Keep it closed through:

  1. Praying and voicing all problems to God,
  2. Bible study and learning the principles of faith,
  3. Companionship with other Christians for support,
  4. Sunday School and worship attendance,
  5. And telling others about Jesus.

THEN, as Paul says in our Scripture today, "Don't give that mule an INCH!"

Maybe we cannot live sinless; but we can sin less!!

Let us remember, as we face life today, the ole mule is sick to death. Christ has delivered the crushing blow, but that ole devil is still flailing around trying to take as many as he can with him; and certainly trying to infect Christians with his sickness. (See 1Peter 5:8)

So take the "pipe" of faith and ...... BLOW FIRST!

Love ya,

Falling down doesn't make one a failure; but staying down does.
