THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

An American went to Scotland and played golf with a Scottish golfer. The first tee shot the American made was bad. So he played a "mulligan." Then he asked his Scottish friend, "What do you folk call it when you hit a "mulligan" in Scotland?"

The Scottish man said, without a smile, "We call it hitting THREE!"

Mark 16:6-7
6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
KJV

Some golfers use "mulligans." Some roll the ball around on the ground to get a better "lie." Some golfers believe in 2nd chances.

Did you ever stop to wonder just WHY some of the things are stated the way they are in the Bible? For instance WHY did the angel say, "...go your way, tell His disciples AND Peter...."

It was as if God was saying, "Be sure and tell Peter he can come too." Peter had denied Jesus three times. God wanted him to know that he had a 2nd chance!

As Max Lucado says, "This is a dog-eat-dog world." And people do not often have 2nd chances. But God wants us to know that He gives 2nd chances!

Do you need a "mulligan" in life today? Have you "messed up," and need a 2nd chance? Tell Jesus about it, openly confess it to Him, and plead His forgiveness. He will give you a 2nd chance EVERY DAY!

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1John 1:9)

Because of our sinfulness, we are imperfect beings. We ALL need 2nd chances.
God knows that. And He allows "mulligans!"

Love ya,
