THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

Some kindergarten students were asked about praying. Here's a few of their responses.

"No. I don't pray every night. Sometimes I don't need anything."
"I pray for rain when Daddy says so. But I ask God to be reasonable."
"Yes, I always ask God for His presents."
"No, my Mommy prays for me."

Ps 85:4-7
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
KJV

Today, on the National Mall, thousands will join together for a day of repentance and prayer. Twenty-four years ago, a rally called "Washington for Jesus" was held, calling for prayer for our country. Now, John Gimenez has the same vision of calling on people of faith to gather together and pray for our nation.

We may not be able to join the thousands gathered in the National Mall today physically. But we can join them spiritually in prayer for our nation.

If we want to see change in our nation, we must first have revival in God's people. (2Chronicles 7:14) God didn't command for all the people of a nation to pray in order to see change. God commanded HIS people to repent and pray for change to come.

We first need to pray that believers in Christ will show sincerity in their spiritual lives (Philippians 1:9-11). If our lives are filled with "fruits of righteousness," then others will see a need to turn to Christ.

Prayer for national leaders is a necessity in the life of believers. (See 1Timothy 2:1-2) If we desire to live in peace, we must commit to prayer for our leaders.

Sometimes we must confess that we become over anxious about the leadership of our nation. But God says we should present our prayers to Him and, "...the peace of God, which passeth all understanding..." shall keep our hearts and minds through faith in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

What a great nation we have!
What a great responsibility we have to support our nation with prayer!

Love ya,

In government no support is more needed than that of earnest prayer!
