THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"
My friend said, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor."
Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"
He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service!"

Eph 4:9-10
9 (Now that he ascended , what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

We can comprehend, somewhat, "He that ...ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things."
We can understand that Jesus arose from the grave.
We can undestand that He ascended to heaven.
But can we understand that He first "descended..into the lower parts of the earth?"
To understand that, we would have to first comprehend the glory of heaven. We would have to know the wonder of His majesty as He ruled over eternity and the universe. We would have to know that He is God of very God before Whom cherubim and seraphim continually sing praises.
Jesus not only descended from the height of glory to become a man; He became a "man of sorrows." (Isaiah 53:3) He suffered, bled and died in unparalleled agony so that God could pay God the price for man's sin.
That is "the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge" (Eph 3:19)!
This love is not only beyond comprehension, it is beyond expression in our language. No words can be found to express the love of Christ in its sweetness, its fulness, its greatness, its faithfulness!
But Christ's love can "fill all things!"
It can "fill" one's soul!
Let His love fill our souls today!
And let that love find expression through practical action toward others!
When we do that, there will be no "secret service!"
Love ya,
Bruce
