THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

The optometrist said that time are changing.
In the old days, when people came to get glasses, they were complaining about having trouble reading their Bibles.
But now they come complaining they are having trouble seeing TV or reading the racing forms!

John 14:26-27
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Peace. Do you want peace in your life? Doesn't everyone?
It's a troubled world in which we live. We come face-to-face with traumatic situations each day -- even death. Jesus talked about the "peace" He gives (verse 27). It is a peace that STAYS with you, and is not torn away by day-by-day circumstances. It is a peace that is visible to the "eye of the spirit" even when everything else is blurry.
That "peace" comes from knowing Jesus and knowing that we are living to fulfill His purpose in our lives. Take a good look at what verse 26 is saying. When we become saved, God sends His Holy Spirit into our lives. He comes as a Teacher. He teaches us as we study our Bibles.
He comes also as a Reminder. While we go about the daily routine of living life, God's Holy Spirit reminds us of what we have learned from His Word. Then we can make decisions based on what God has said, and not on how we "feel."
Real peace comes from knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is knowing that He has forgiven our sins, and is determinedly bringing us to His "expected end." And that end is being in glory with Him for eternity!
At times, the circumstances we face in the world will cause our vision of real peace to be blurred. But let us come back to the Bible! There, God's Holy Spirit will TEACH us, and REMIND us of His eternal truths. In order to maintain "peace," we must maintain our learning and growing relationship with Christ.
As my good friend John "Bud" Traylor has said, "We live in the here and now. But to maintain our focus, we must live FOR the there and then."

Real peace is knowing the Person of Christ, and knowing His purposes for our lives.
