THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
One of those "forceful" vacuum salesmen appeared at the door of an old lady's cottage.
She began to tell him that she didn't want to see a demonstration.
But, without warning, the salesman rushed into the living room and threw a large bag of dirt all over her clean carpet.
He said,"If this new vacuum doesn't pick up every bit of dirt then I'll eat all the dirt."
The woman, who by this time was losing her patience, said, "Sir, if I had enough money to buy that thing, I would have paid my electricity bill before they cut it off. Now, what would you prefer, a spoon or a knife and fork?"

Rom 8:12-13
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

_______THOUGHT_________________________________________________________
Before we were saved, we had the dirtiness of sin all over us! We were worse off than the woman's carpet above, and had no way to "clean up" our dirtiness!
We owed God a debt of justice which we could not pay!
We owed Him the debt of sins' reward - eternal death!
Romans 6:23a
"For the wages of sin is death...."
But Jesus PAID that debt for us!
Romans 6:23b
"But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
PRAISE GOD! Having surrendered to Jesus as Lord, we no longer owe sins' debt of death.
And He will never hold us accountable for it again!
However, we ARE "debtors" to God for LIFE!
He gave us NEW life in Christ!
1 Peter 3:18
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:"
Ephesians 2:1
"And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;"
Now that we are called "sons of God;" (1John 3:1)
Now that we are "accepted in the Beloved;" (Ephesians 1:6)
We owe God the debt of living by His Spirit!
This living by His Spirit is exhibited by:
Close communion with our Lord through prayer,
Studiousness of the Word to learn more of Him so we can be like Him,
Exhibiting mercy and grace to others by telling them of Christ,
Helping to educate those who receive Him by teaching the Word,
And, ministering to those who are in need.
Praise God, we no longer owe the debt of justice!
Let us be paying the debt of life!
Love ya,
Bruce
