Salvation of man is OF God and BY God, but it is FOR mankind. God is the eternal, omnipotent Creator. We receive His offer of salvation only because of His GRACE.
By sin and because of sin, mankind is naturally at war with God (Romans 8:7). Man certainly cannot win the war, but God is offering PEACE!
When two nations war against one another, it is usually the one who is about to lose that sends an ambassador seeking peace. But mankind has no ambassador worthy of seeking God's peace.
When Christ was born into the world, His birth was announced and a "..multitude of the heavenly host.." sang praises to God.
Christ the Lord is the ONE and ONLY "Ambassador of Peace" from God to man. He is the Emissary of God's "good will" toward mankind. He brings the desire of God for all men to be saved. He brings the desire of God to end the war of sin and call men to surrender to the Almighty God.
We owe a debt we cannot pay.
We brought the curse of death upon ourselves.
We instituted war upon Almighty God by our sin.
The angels sang "Glory to God in the highest.." because God receives the glory for man's salvation.
