THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A man was sitting under a walnut tree in the cool evening breeze doing some contemplation.

As he was looking up, he was musing about why God put the little walnut on a big strong tree, and the large pumpkin on a small weak vine.

Just then a walnut fell and hit him on the head!

Jude 24-25
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
KJV

Once, during my morning run, I was thinking about how God's grace is always active. He is the "wise" God! He is our "Savior!" From His "glory and majesty" He came to die for our sins. By His GRACE, He extended the gift of salvation to every soul. And all who receive Him, He keeps by His constantly active grace. Were it not so, we would FALL!

Just as I approached the house on the run, Ann came out of the front door. I looked up at her, and WHAM! My toe hit a root in the yard! OUCH! It was very painful. It remained painful for about 6 weeks, a constant reminder of my weakness and my NEED of God's grace!

We are weak, frail humans. It is difficult to even negotiate "learned paths" without incident. Our eyes do not always focus on the dangers. Our feet slip.

In our spiritual run of life, we are (like children) prone to FALL. We stumble over "rocks" of offense. We trip over temptation. We allow ourselves to focus on the wrong things.

Imagine how it would be without God's GRACE to keep us from "falling!"

But from His "dominion and power," our Lord constantly watches over us. Though He does not always keep us from the pain and suffering resultant from our own weakness, He does keep us from "falling" out of His grasp. He will NEVER allow the genuinely saved to fall from His salvation!

And one blessed day, He will present us "faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy!!"

Praise God today for His perservering GRACE!

Love ya,
Bruce
