THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A pastor was asked to speak at a businessman's luncheon. The president of the club happened to be a deacon in the pastor's church. He gave the pastor a very glowing introduction.

When it came time for the pastor to stand and speak, he said, "May our gracious Lord forgive this man his excesses, and me for enjoying them so much."

Matt 9:6
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

Jesus is called "The Great Physician" because of His healing power. He not only heals bodies, but He heals broken spirits! Our Lord's display of His great physical power here in Matthew 9, was to prove that He also has the spiritual power forgive sin.

His power is limitless because He is God in flesh.
His power is limitless because He has personally paid the cost of all sin, and eternally stands in intercession on behalf of sinners.
His power is limitless because His "compassions fail not" (Lamentations 3:2).

No matter WHO the sinner, no matter how GREAT the sin, "this man," Christ, "receiveth sinners" (Lk 15:2)!

Jesus has the power to forgive your sins and to give you the "peace that passeth all understanding." (Ppns 4:7).

However, there are some things even God cannot do!
He cannot lie (Titus 1:2).
And He cannot forgive unrepentant, unconfessed sin!

Let us come before Christ today, acknowledging and confessing our sin that He may apply His power of forgiveness and healing to our broken spirits.

Let us remember He is CHRIST, "Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver : in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;" (2 Cor 1:10).

Love ya,
Bruce
