THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Young Chuck moved to Texas. He was going to try a little farming. So, he bought a donkey from a farmer. The farmer said he'd deliver the donkey the next day.
But the next day, the farmer came to Chuck with some bad news.
The donkey had DIED!
Chuck said, "Ok. Gimme my money back."
Farmer, "Already spent it."
Chuck, "Ok. Gimme the dead donkey."
Farmer, "Whatcha gonna do with it?"
Chuck, "Gonna raffle it off."
Farmer, "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"
Chuck, "Watch me!"
Next week, the farmer saw Chuck downtown.
Farmer, "How'd that raffle go?"
Chuck, "Fine. Sold 500 tickets at $2.00 each. Made $998.00."
Farmer, "Didn't anyone complain?"
Chuck, "One guy did. I gave him his $2.00 back."
Chuck is now working for the government.
He's in charge of lotteries!

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD.
2 Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God,
3 Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.
4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

This song is a call for God's people to PRAISE Him: to sing songs of praise, adoration and joy.
There are two reasons given here for us to praise God.
1) God is "good." In Himself, God is perfectly GOOD. He is righteous and holy. And God's character is displayed as He deals with His created beings. He treats us with mercy and grace.
2) God has CHOSEN us. It is God's divine authority to choose those who will remain with Him in His glorious heaven forever. They become His "peculiar treasure," which He keeps close by Himself. We should indeed PRAISE God, for He has determined to CHOOSE all those who will come to Him in repentance and surrender.
Jehovah, in the Old Testament, delivered Israel from many oppressors. He miraculously saved them when they had no other hope.
Jesus, in the New Testament, delivers us from the oppression of sin and sin's result of eternal condemnation. He is our ONLY Hope!!
God saw us in sin which leads to eternal death and called us from it.
God sees us sinning today and sustains us with His Spirit, Word and Church.
God is leading us to growth and usefulness to Him.
And, one day, God will deliver us to an eternal heaven!
God is GOOD!
ALL the time!
PRAISE Him today!
Love ya,
Bruce
