THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

Edward Everett Hale was once chaplain for the US Senate. Someone asked him, "Dr. Hale, what do you pray for the senators?"

Dr. Hale answered, "I don't. I look at the senators and pray for the COUNTRY!"

Acts 4:31-33

31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Some of the disciples had just been chastised for the healing of a lame man. They came back together and prayed.

In their prayer, they praised God, recognized His power, and asked for His help (verses 24-30).

Then the Bible says, "WHEN they prayed....."

When they prayed, the ground SHOOK!
When they prayed, they were FILLED with God's Holy Spirit!
When they prayed, they witnessed to others with BOLDNESS!
When they prayed, they were UNIFIED!
When they prayed, they were UNSELFISH!
When they prayed, their preaching was EMPOWERED!
Because, when they prayed, GREAT GRACE was upon them all!

Prayer is a very important part of our individual lives. Without it, we are lacking in the personal relationship we should have with our Lord.

Prayer is also very important as a part of our corporate Christian lives. Without it, we do not grow in love an unity.

In order for us to fulfill the purposes God has planned for us as a church, we need Him to pour out grace upon us and guide us in unity and purpose. Prayer is the unifying factor that draws us closer to God, closer to one another, and allows Him to pour out that grace we so desperately need.

Love ya,
