THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
In 1978, British army soldiers were used temporarily as firemen when there was a strike of the local firefighters.
And elderly lady called the firehouse on January 14, 1978 and asked that the firemen come to rescue her cat from a tree. They did, and soon placed the furry animal safely in her hands.
She was so grateful, she invited the men in for tea. They accepted. The lady released the cat to play in the yard.
After a pleasant time of fellowship and refreshment, the temporary firemen got back into their truck to head back to the local firestation.
As they backed away, they ran over the cat!

Isa 37:21-23
21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:
22 This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
23 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

Sennacherib, king of Assyria threatened the nation of Judah. He sent a letter to king Hezekiah stating intention to come and bring the nation of Judah into subjection by his power.
Hezekiah promptly took the letter and went to pray. He prayed that the Lord Himself would turn back any attack by the powerful Assyrian king. In his prayer, Hezekiah attributed the protection of Judah to God.
And God sent back an answer to Hezekiah's prayer, which we read above in the text for today (Isaiah 37:21-23).
God considered the threat to be personally against HIM!
Today, there are those who would use their power to attack the church because they disagree with Biblically based doctrine.
We must remember, that at their BEST, political forces may temporarily be an aid; but eventually they "run over the cat!"
Let us do as Hezekiah, and PRAY!
Let us call upon our Lord to protect and defend!
Our Lord Himself is our "strength" and our "shield" (Psalm 28:7).
Love ya,
Bruce
