THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Many years ago people began to use kerosene instead of whale oil for lamps. One elderly New England lady was quite perturbed at this.
"And what will the poor whales do now?" she inquired.

2 Tim 2:1
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
KJV

The heart pumps blood to every member of the body. And the grace of Christ flows freely to every member of the church, which is His "body" upon the earth.

The old acrostic relates a great truth. Grace is: God's Riches At Christ's Expense.

Were it not for Grace, God's love would never have flowed down to us in the depths of our sinfulness. God's love is extended by His grace. Grace is the channel through which the love of God is poured.

Were it not for Grace, God's power would not lift the pride-drunken soul to his knees to beg for mercy. We have no desire to repent from our sinfulness except the grace of God show us our need. Grace is the kindness of God convicting us of sin, and convincing us to turn to the One and Only Savior - Jesus.

Were it not for Grace, God's energy would not flow through the powerless saint. When saved, our greatest need is God's unmeasured grace that we may continue in His will and way. It is the grace of God that is "sufficient" for all our need.

How shall we "be strong" in this grace?
1. Be ever AWARE of its presence. The grace of Christ is as a fountain continually flowing. He never ceases to multiply grace upon grace for His children. "And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace." John 1:16

2. Be ever ASKING. We must come "boldly to the throne of grace" in order find God's help in times of need.
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Heb 4:16

3. Be ever ABIDING. We must remember that we cannot bear "fruit" without ABIDING in the grace which saved us and grafted us into the Vine.
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." John 15:4
