THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
<><><><><>
HI!
<><><><><><><><>
A man told his mother about a friend who died and left three small children.
Mom sympathetically said, "Why couldn't it have been me? I'm ninety-three years old, and she was so young. I've served the Lord all my life, and I'm ready to go."
The son said, "MOM! God left you hear on earth for a purpose! He MUST have something else He wants you to do!"
She retorted, "Well, I'm telling you right now, I'm NOT going to do it!"

John 15:8
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
(KJV)

Our PURPOSE in life, as born-again Christians, is to "glorify" our Lord by bearing "much fruit." The only means by which we can accomplish our purpose is to "abide" in our Christ.
"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." (John 15:5)
I fear too many of us abide in selfish wants and desires like the woman in the joke above.
In order to be abiders, we must be obeyers.
"If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." (John 15:10)
In order to be obeyers, we must first be learners, of God's Word.
"Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:31-32)
When we maintain a personal relationship with Christ, learn His Word, and obey His Word, THEN we shall "bear much fruit" and accomplish our purpose of glorifying God.
The REWARD of studying God's Word and being obedient is to be called "FRIENDS" by Christ!
"Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." (John 15:14)
Be a "friend" to Christ today. Learn His Word, obey His Word, abide in Him.
Love ya,
Bruce

Accomplishing purpose requires dedication to the task.
