Adrian Rogers, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, tells about a man who made his boys work hard. He said they had to work in the fields of corn while other boys were enjoying the afternoon at the swimming hole.
One neighbor asked the man, "Why do you make those boys work so hard? You really don't need all that corn."
The man answered, "Sir, I'm not raising corn; I'm raising BOYS!"

Lil Bible study on working for God today.
Most parents will agree that keeping children busy keeps them out of trouble. Working in the cornfield produces two very good results: 1) it produces corn, 2) it prevents children from becoming involved in worldly things.
God doesn't give Christians "busy work," work just to keep them busy. God's work is to bring the lost to salvation, and teach the saved to win the lost. God's work is to minister to the needy, and encourage those in difficulties.
God invites us to JOIN Him in that work! In fact, God even promises rewards to those who join Him in that work.
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." (Rev. 22:12)
And God's Word also says that if we aren't working WITH Him, we ARE working AGAINST Him (See Matt. 12:30).
And God's Word says that those who aren't working FOR Him really don't BELIEVE Him (See Titus 2:16).
And God says that if we really look into the Bible, we'll become involved in His WORK (See James 1:25).
No. God doesn't just give us "busy work." He gives us GENUINE work. Work that produces fruit, and work that will also keep us from being involved in too much of the world.
