THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Three guys were fishing in a lake one day, when Jesus walked across the water and joined them in the boat. When the three astonished men had settled down enough to speak to Jesus they begin to ask for help.

The 1st guy asked humbly, "Jesus, I've suffered from back pain ever since I took shrapnel in the Vietnam War ... Could you help me?" "Of course, my son," Jesus said, and when he touched the man's back he felt relief for the first time in years.

The 2nd guy who wore very thick glasses and had a hard time reading and driving asked if Jesus could do anything about his poor eyesight. Jesus smiled, removed the man's glasses and tossed them into the lake. When they hit the water, the man's eyes cleared and he could see everything distinctly.

When Jesus turned to the 3rd guy, the guy put his hands out defensively -- "Don't touch me!" he cried, "I'm on a disability pension."

Ps 119:50
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
1 John 2:1-2
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

THOUGHT______________________________________________________________________

How has the "Word" of God "quickened" me? First, when I was dead in trespasses and sin, God's Word was sent into my heart and gave me LIFE. Somebody shared the "Word" of the Gospel of Jesus and told me God will forgive and save.

Then, it was the "Word" of God in flesh, Jesus Himself, that "quickened" me when I repented, and surrendered to Him. He gave me NEW LIFE!

Now today, it is the "Word" of God that "quickens" me every day! Both Christ, by His presence in my life; and the Bible, which teaches and enlightens each day.

The Bible teaches me that I should strive constantly to "sin not."
And, praise God, when I fail, when I fall short, I have an "Advocate" with God. His Name is Jesus Christ. He died to pay for ALL my sin. Therefore, I can be forgiven!

And Jesus didn't just die as a "propitiation" (payment, appeasement) for my sin and yours. He died for the payment of ALL sin!!

Therefore, ANYONE can be saved!!

It is this "Word" from God that "quickens" me (makes me alive) to tell others about Christ!

A Christian cannot say that he/she does not have the gift, ability, talent or skill to tell others about Jesus!!

Because the "Word" of God has "quickened" us to do that very thing!

Love ya,
Bruce
