THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A young woman teacher with obvious liberal tendencies explained to her class of small children that she was an atheist. She asked her class if they were atheists too. Not really knowing what atheism was, but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands went up.

There was, however, one exception. A young girl named Lucy had not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asked her why she decided to be different.

"Because, I'm not an atheist."

Then, asked the teacher, "What are you?"
"I'm a Christian."

The teacher was a little perturbed, her face slightly red. She asked Lucy why she is a Christian.

"Well, I was brought up knowing and loving Jesus. My mom is a Christian, and my dad is a Christian, so I am a Christian."

The teacher became angry. "That's no reason," she said loudly.

"What if your mom was an idiot and your dad was an idiot. What would you be then?"

Lucy paused, smiled and said, "Then, I'd be an atheist!"

Sometimes we need to be reminded of "the word" God has spoken to us.

Last night I was listening to music evangelist Brad Mount as he mixed wonderful gospel music with his testimony. One of the things he said was, "I quit looking for signs years ago, now I'm just listening for sounds!"

Of course, he was referring to the fact that there are no more signs to be seen before Jesus comes. And the next thing we'll hear is the sound of the trumpet and the great shout!

But the statement Brad made reminded me that we need to be listening to the sound of God's Word.

Perhaps today, the ole devil has reminded you of how bad you were, and makes you doubt that God has saved you. Remember,
"..him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37)
And remember, after you believed and trust Jesus,
"..ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.." (Eph 1:13)

Perhaps today, your life is burdened and you are weary of the struggle.
Remember, "He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength." (Isa 40:29)

Perhaps today, you feel you have lost your closeness with the Savior. Remember, God has not moved! "Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts." (Mal 3:7)

Perhaps today, you realize you've wasted many years that could have been much better used to serve the Lord. Remember,
"I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten..." (Joel 2:25)

I believe that, whatever your position or condition in life today, God has said a word about it.

We just need to REMEMBER THE WORD!

Love ya,
Bruce
