THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A pastor was walking down the street one day when he noticed a very small boy trying to press a doorbell on a house across the street. However, the boy was very small and the doorbell was too high for him to reach.

After watching the boy's efforts for some time, the pastor moved closer to the boy's position. He stepped smartly across the street, walked up behind the little fellow and, placing his hand kindly on the child's shoulder leaned over and gave the doorbell a solid ring.

Crouching down to the child's level, the pastor smiled benevolently and asked, "And now what, my little man?"

To which the boy replied, "Now we run!"

THOUGHT_______________________________________________________________

Because of His eternal covenant with Abraham, Moses and David, God SELECTED Jerusalem (Zion) as the central place of worship.

Because of His eternal covenant through Christ Jesus, God has SELECTED the HEART of man as the central place of worship today! Galatians 4:6 says, "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

This is the place of "rest" (or abiding) of God - the HEART of man!

The heart of man is also where man makes his decisions.
It is where he makes his commitments.

There is a misunderstanding in preaching and evangelism of the term "..just ask Jesus into your heart.." That term has lost much of the original meaning today.

I'm afraid, in today's world, too many people have rung the doorbell, and then RAN!

To ask Jesus "..into your heart.." means to surrender all that you are to Him and allow Him to become the LORD and MASTER of your life.

When God abides and reigns in your heart:
you will have peace,
you will enjoy the fellowship of the saints in the church "body,"
and, you will be thankful.

Col 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
KJV

Love ya,
