THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

I had gotten lost in cryptic and ambiguous regulations, and in total desperation called the Internal Revenue service for some explanations.

I got hold of someone thoroughly familiar with the subject of my questions. He gave me complete and helpful answers.

I like to give positive reinforcement when I run across people like that, so I made it a point to say, "Thank you! You have been really informative and helpful."

To which the IRS agent said,
"I am sorry."

Calling to us "with an holy calling" (2Tim. 1:9) was not enough.
Jesus stands at the door of each unredeemed heart, not only calling, but KNOCKING!

The door to which He calls, and upon which He knocks is the HEART.
It is the seat of all vital activity.
It is the central place of decision making.

Man can understand and know with his mind.
He can desire with his body.
But, it is in the heart that decisions are made.

It is there that Jesus calls and knocks.
All that is required for salvation is to "open the door" and let Him become LORD of our central place of decision making.

When Paul came to Ephesus (Acts 19:1-4), he asked those who believed about what John the Baptist had preached if they had RECEIVED the Holy Ghost.
When they heard of Jesus, they became obedient to Him and RECEIVED.

The lesson here is that He cannot be RECEIVED until we SURRENDER!
Jesus must be allowed to become LORD of our decision making!
THEN, we are saved!

Love ya,
Bruce
