THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Back in the 1930's, the old steam engined train was chugging slowly through the mountains.
There were only a few passengers on board, and the conductor was sitting in the car with them.

The train came to a slow crawl, then stopped. The conductor went to see what was the problem.
Shortly he returned saying, "There's a cow on the track, we'll be underway shortly."

The train soon began again, but only a few miles later slowly stopped. One of the passengers said, "Hmmmm, we must have caught up with that cow again!"

Isa 30:18
And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

We're all too fond of fulfilling our wants INSTANTLY!
We have quick-stop stores on every corner, microwaves and quick-food restaurants.

But when we pray for something, God sometimes DELAYS sending the answer.
Three things we should remember about WAITING on the Lord.

First, remember our "LORD is a God of judgment."
Expediency is not always as important as correctness.

Second, God is omniscient, and knows exactly the right time to "have mercy upon you."

Third, God's intention for His children is to always be "gracious" unto them.

Therefore, if you've been praying for something, be patient.
God's timing is ALWAYS perfect!

One other point, the word "wait" in our text above is quite different from the word "wait" in Isaiah 40:31, "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." The word "wait" in this verse means to SERVE.

So, while you're waiting on the Lord to answer your prayer SERVE Him!

Love ya,
Bruce
