THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Once an attorney was pleading the case of his farmer client who had lost a shipment of 24 pigs. He was prosecuting the trucking company that had lost the animals.
The lawyer wanted to impress the jury with the magnitude of the loss so he said very innocently, "Twenty-four pigs, gentlemen! Twenty-four! Twice the number in the jury box!"
Oops! Too late! The damage was done. It was all over but the verdict.

All men, even saved ones, have the inclination to do and especially speak wrong things.
Sometimes, we allow the drive-train of our tongue to be engaged before our motor-minds
have had time to "warm up!"
Perhaps the most deadly and poisonous venom in the world is that released from the hasty tongue! The ole preacher was right when he said, "God gave us two eyes, two ears, two hands, two feet; but He gave us only ONE tongue. That's 'cause God knew ONE tongue was enough to get us into trouble!"
All the Certs, Breath Savers, and chewing gum in the world cannot clean up the foul stench of a gossipping or swearing mouth!
The tongue is very important to God. The Bible mentions the word "tongue" over 200 times!
It is to be used for education, encouragement, and especially for evangelism.
The Bible says a "wise man," endowed with knowledge, will exhibit his wisdom by a "good conversation" through "meekness of wisdom" (James 3:13).
So, how do we control this small member (the tongue)?
First, ASK God to "Set a watch" over it.
Or, ask God to be in control of even what we speak.
Then, remember God is watching and listening.
Second, let God's Word become the major part of our vocabulary.
And, always utilize it by "speaking the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15)
Speak kindly by loving fully.
