THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A Sunday School teacher asked her little children, as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"
One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping!"

1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!

Notice that the prophet called this a "burden." It was a burden which he "did see." Obviously, Habakkuk had seen "violence" in Judah. He had seen the unconcern of the people, and that they seemed to have no moral conscience. A moral quagmire had stricken the nation because the people of God were sleeping!
Christian, have you seen this in America? Have you seen things similar to what Habakkuk saw? Did he see gambling? Corrupt political leaders? A barrage of laws that severely limited and restricted freedom of speech and expression of religious preference? Did he see the prevalence of spouse abuse, child abuse, and divorce? Are we not also seeing these?
Habakkuk seemed perplexed that he had called to God in prayer and God didn't answer. He had been praying about this quite some time.
Christian, have you ever had a long-term prayer that wasn't answered? For instantce, why hasn't God sent true REVIVAL to the Christian church in America? I personally have been praying for a true revival for many years now. Why has God not answered? Is He not listening? Or is it that our sin inhibits the working of His Holy Spirit?
God eventually gave Habakkuk an absolute "NO!" answer. And Habakkuk "did see" the "burden" of Judah's punishment. The punishment was sent because the nation refused to LISTEN to God call for their repentance.
Christian, are you afraid this might happen in the USA? How do we get beyond the hearts hardened with sin and bring them to salvation? How do we get beyond the indifferent hearts and bring them to real revival?
We don't!
We must PRAY! And PRAY! Only GOD can change hearts!
Don't be sleeping!
