THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Sometimes, Christians just want to let the darkness come, and spiritually sleep.
But who can find the way, when we aren't diligent to keep the candle burning?

None can explain what happened when God Incarnate came to "dwell among us!"
But one thing we DO understand: Jesus took on flesh, and His Spirit OVERRULED EVERY temptation!

Jesus needed PRAYER in order to do that!
He was about to face the CROSS!
It was His DESIRE to go pray at "the mount of olives" where there was serenity.
He did not HAVE TO die for mankind!!
It was His "passion!"

If there were SOME OTHER way (vs 42)?!
But there was NO OTHER way!
There is NO OTHER "acceptable" sacrifice!!
JESUS is that ONE and ONLY sacrifice!!

At this particular time, Jesus was not the ONLY One facing temptation.
The disciples, even though they may not have known it, were facing temptation too.
And, Jesus said, "Pray that ye enter not into temptation."

Yet, at the time when Jesus needed His disciple's prayer, "He found them SLEEPING!"
They, the Bible says, were sleeping "for sorrow."
Who's sorrow? His or theirs?
BOTH!

It was His sorrow that they prayed not.
It was their sorrow that they weren't more diligent for their Lord.

The greatest hindrance to evangelism today is:
Christians "sleeping for sorrow!"

Love ya,
