THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A lady was stopped on the side of the road. A traveling salesman stopped to see if he could help.

She was sitting beside her car crying, and a dead rabbit was lying beside her. She told the salesman she had just run over the rabbit.

He said, "Wait a minute, I've got something in my car that might help."

He opened his trunk, and came back with a bottle of something. He poured it on the rabbit and the rabbit jumped up and hopped off.

Surprised and elated, the lady asked, "What IS that stuff."

The man said, "I'm a beauty supply salesman. That was some hair restorer!"

Joshua 3:1-5
1 And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.
2 And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host;
3 And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.
4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.
5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.

At times we all need a little "restorer" for our faith. Reading about Joshua always gives me a "shot in the arm," so to speak.

When the two spies returned and told Joshua that the land was truly given over to them, then Joshua began preparations to cross Jordan according to God's Word.

Three days after moving to the banks of Jordan, Joshua instructed the "officers" to instruct the people. Note here that they were to leave a distance between the Ark being carried by the priests themselves.

We can not know the way unless we are led by the WORD of God. We certainly do not know the WAY (direction) to heaven. We can only know the WAY (Person of Jesus) to lead us, and HE is found in the WORD.

"...I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

Note also that they were to sanctify themselves (verse 5). To "sanctify" means to be cleansed and set apart for special service.

We should daily renew our relationship with the Lord so that we might be spiritually enabled to follow his leadership. And the way to renew that relationship is to confess and forsake our sins. This not only restores our relationship with Christ, but also restores our spiritual strength to face each day.

Love ya,
