THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
The large family gathered at the breakfast table, as was customary for their home. Also, customarily, Dad returned thanks to God for the food.
Then, Dad began to complain. The bacon wasn't crisp; the toast was too buttery; the coffee wasn't hot.
The oldest of his daughters posed a question: "Dad, do you suppose God heard you when you prayed a moment ago?"
A little perturbed, Dad said, "Yes. I KNOW He did."
Then she asked, "Do you suppose God heard you when you complained?"
A little ashamed, Dad said, "Yes. I know He did."
She posed one more question: "Then, which do you suppose God BELIEVED?"

Ps 142:1-3
1 Mas'-chil of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD
did I make my supplication.
2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path.

David was hidden in a cave. He was running from Saul.
He had much to complain about: fear, cold nights, wet ground to sleep on, etc.
However, David spoke with inspiring words to his men.
And, quietly, he poured out his complaints to God alone.
He explained to God his "trouble."
But then David says a very interesting thing.
When he was totally "overwhelmed" with his circumstances, he realized that
God KNEW his "path!"
As Christians, let us be careful about WHAT we say.
And, let us be careful about WHERE we voice complaint.
Peter approaches this idea when he says, "For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:"
(1 Peter 3:10)
And, later, in the same vein of thought, Peter says, "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers:" (1 Peter 3:12)
Let us voice our complaints to God alone.
And, let us speak inspiration to those around us.
Let us be a good witness for Christ in every difficulty we face.
Love ya,
Bruce
