THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Two shoe salesmen were sent to a third world country to open new sales territories.

After the first week, the company received a faxed message from one of the salesmen: "Will be returning on the next plane. Can't sell shoes here...everyone goes barefoot all the time."

The other salesman wasn't heard from until another week had passed. Then a large envelope was delivered to the company office with this note: "Fifty orders enclosed. Prospects unlimited. Nobody here has shoes."

Hab 2:1
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

Living Christianity is much like the two shoe salesmen. The right attitude affords positivity.

Habakkuk said, "I will stand upon my watch." Men of his day were used to taking a "watch" and standing on the walls of the city. They could see out, around and in - spotting any trouble which might appear.

I will watch OUT! Be alert to the "ravenous wolf" which seeks to tempt, toss and turn you. Be alert to the onslought of unbelief and the doubters who proclaim, "Where is now thy God?" Be alert to false teachers who seek to consume faith by focusing on material rewards.

I will watch AROUND! Looking for what opportunities may appear in which help can be given to others. Sharing constancy, companionship, comfort and consolation to those who are in need.

I will watch IN! Listening for how God reproves me for my own sin, and falling on my knees for forgiveness. Listening for Him to tell me "...this is the way, walk ye in it." (Isaiah 30:21)

There are dangers to the positive spiritual attitude everywhere. Let us focus on alertness. Let us take time to reflect, considering what changes we might need to make. And let us be looking for guidance from our Lord by watching earnestly in His Word and in prayer.

Let us be alert, and stand watch.

Love ya,
Bruce
