THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Mom left little Johnny with the baby sitter for a couple of hours so she could go shopping.
When she returned, she said, "How was little Johnny? He's usually as good as gold."
The baby sitter said, "Well, about an hour ago, he went off the gold standard."

Eph 5:1-2
1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Paul uses "dear children" as an example of how we are to live for Christ.
"Dear children" are those who usually STAY on the "love standard."
We, as Christians, are to live in "love."
The word for love here is the Greek word agape.
Agape love has sometimes been defined as giving out of self without thought of return.
It means to "have affection," or to "show charity."
Our example of love is our Lord, Jesus Christ.
His love was so great for us that He has "given Himself for us" as a sacrifice for our sins.
Christ gave Himself on the cross for all men, knowing that all were sinners and that many would not receive Him.
As "dear children" of God, let us stay on the love standard.
Let us live caring, giving, sharing and in kindness to our fellow man, so that we may be a true witness of God's love.
Love ya,
Bruce
