THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

The following short quiz consists of 4 questions and tells whether you are qualified to be "professional". Scroll down for each answer. The questions are not that difficult.

1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

2. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Wrong Answer: Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant and close the refrigerator.

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your actions.

3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend except one. Which animal does not attend?

Correct Answer: The Elephant. The Elephant is in the refrigerator. This tests your memory. OK, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your abilities.

4. There is a river you must cross. But it is inhabited by crocodiles. How do you manage it?

Correct Answer: You swim across. All the Crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

Most adults miss all the questions.
However, most 9-year-olds get the questions correct.
Conclusion: complicated life is best handled through simple faith.

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

We will surely go through many "trial(s)" of our faith in Christ.
Faith untested is like steel untempered, weak.
But faith tested in a "trial" is tempered and grows stronger.

One thing of which we may be sure when our faith is being tried, we are "kept by the power of God..." Let us remember, in every trial, that faith is a GIFT of God (Eph. 2:8-9). It is the gift of the ability to cling to Christ through every "trial."

Wrestlers test their skills and strength by wrestling. By testing, their strength grows and they become more able.

Gold, the most precious of metals, is purified by being heated in fire until melted. Then the impurities float to the top, and are skimmed off. The remainder is the more pure metal.

When our faith is tested, we find the impurities of our lives. We can skim them off, and be left with a more pure faith.

We are "kept by the power of God through faith UNTO SALVATION."
This wonderful gift of God is capable of keeping us all the way to the completion of salvation...all the way through death into His glorious presence!

Let us not fear when faith is tested.
Let us rejoice because it grows stronger.

Love ya,
Bruce
