THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A senior citizen went to the doctor, and received a prescription for medicine. He put the prescription in his pocket, but forgot it. His ailment was minor, so it wasn't important at the time.

Later he reached in his pocket for money to ride the bus, and out came the prescription. The bus driver gave him a free ride!

Then the man presented it to the restaurant and received 20% off on his meal!

One day, he dropped it on the floor. His granddaughter found it and played it on the piano. She received a scholarship to a major university in music!

Matt 24:32-39
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Do you ever wonder what this world is coming too? Today, people interpret things differently - like the senior citizen's prescription. Don't you sometimes wonder why ole Noah didn't swat both flies? Or stomp both roaches?

Seriously though, when will the "end" come? Will it be this year? Next year? Do you wonder if "the signs of the times" are pointing toward an end SOON?

When a fig tree begins putting on leaves, you know it won't be long until the figs appear. And when the world begins "the signs of the times," you know the end is near.

What ARE "the signs of the times?" Again, many people interpret things differently. However, Jesus said, "as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." So, what were the "signs of the times" in Noah's day?

Technology grew (Genesis 4:17).
Agriculture became increasingly important (Genesis 4:20).
Entertainment became a major emphasis (Genesis 4:21).
Multiple marriages occured (Genesis 6:1).
According to Genesis 6:5 "every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."
And many people heard the gospel, but few were saved! (1Peter 3:20)

Hmmmm.....seems like THOSE are the "signs of the times" NOW!

But, praise God for Noah. He "found grace in the eyes of the Lord" (Genesis 6:8) because He "walked with God" (Genesis 6:9).

And Noah SAW the "end," but he was lifted ABOVE the "end!"

We should not be more concerned about the "end" than we are about our relationship with God! If our relationship with God is such that we "walk with" Him, then we will find "grace in the eyes of the Lord," and be lifted ABOVE the "end!"

Many people interpret the "end" as a question to know WHETHER they have time to be prepared. They only want to know WHEN so they might have TIME to prepare.

But the question is not WHEN shall we prepare!
The question is ARE you prepared?

Love ya,
Bruce
