THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Did you know?

No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes.
True love exemplifies itself in acts of caring.

There is absolutely no correlation between aging and gaining intelligence.
True love is commitment, not just emotions.

Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of checks.
True love fulfills obligations.

AND,
Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious!
True love remains faithful, whether laughing or crying.

SCRIPTURE____________________________________________________________________

2 Cor 5:14-15
14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

The Greek word for "constraineth" is sunecho. Like many of our English words, it has various meanings depending upon the context in which it is used. It can mean:
hold together, compress, arrest, or preoccupy. In the context of the Scripture quoted above, "constraineth" means arrest.

The love of Christ arrests me, and puts me under His power and will!
The reason His love arrests me is because of how His love is exemplified.

His love created me, even knowing I would be rebellious and sin against Him.
His love provided a plan through which forgiveness was offered to even the worst of sinners.
His love fulfilled the plan by Personally dying on the cross to pay for my sins.
His love called to me through His Spirit, the Word, and His church.
His love convicted me of sin and convinced me that He could and would forgive.
His love convinced me to repent (turn around) and surrender to Him.
His love compelled me to make open and public profession of Him.
AND,
His love propels me to live for His glory and to tell others of His salvation.

Christ's love arrests me!
It stops me in my tracks, and puts me under His power and will!

Once truly experiencing Christ's love, the purpose of life is no longer to please myself; but to please HIM!

What does His love do for you?

Love ya,
Bruce
