THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

Maurice bragged, "I'm not afraid of anything. Why, once I cut off a lion's tail with my pocketknife."
Jim asked, "Why didn't you cut off his head?"
Maurice answered sheepishly, "Well, to tell the truth, someone had already cut that off!"

Ps 61:2
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
KJV

Our Lord and Savior is here compared to a "Rock." He is a "Rock" which stands far above all the storms of life. If we will but come to this "Rock" daily, we will be kept in quiet faith. All the storms of life break around Him, and beneath we are calm and safe.
Paul taught the church at Philippi,
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(Phil 4:6-7)
When his heart was "overwhelmed," the psalmist went to God in "prayer and supplication." He pled for God to lead him through the difficulty to the "Rock."
This God teaches us: go to Him daily in prayer and find the solace needed before even facing the trials of the world. Go to Him during conflict and find peace even in the midst of it. As a "Rock" He stands firm and unmoving, even in the most terrible of storms.
He is "higher" than we, and breaks the storm for us. His mercy is above our need. His grace is stronger than our worry. His love is mightier than any difficulty.
This is the way of faith: to "weather" the storms of life by coming into His presence.
He can guide us, He can protect us, and He can make us feel His wonderful closeness in any trial.
Love ya,
Bruce
