THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A long time ago I used to help my Uncle Fred paint houses. Once, I was on top of a 30 foot extension ladder painting the carnas of a two-story house.
I finished that part and started down the side of the house. Just as I got to the attic vent and made a swipe or two, some angry bees came after me!
I swung the brush to knock them away, and the ladder MOVED! Oh Oh! That means it's gonna move a LOT!
When the ladder began to slide, I came down. Paint brush, paint can and all. And we all landed right on the lady's shrubs! What a mess I had to clean up!

1 Cor 15:55-57
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

M.R. DeHaan was the founder of the Radio Bible Class. Once, he told a story about his two sons, Richard and Marv.
DeHaan kept bees at his house, and he took Richard and Marv with him to raid the hives. A bee got after Richard and stung him just above the eye. The same bee charged Marv. Marv was running, screaming and trying to hide.
DeHaan stopped Marv, and held him. He said, "Son, the bee has lost its stinger. It stung your brother, and it cannot hurt you!" Then, they both went to tend to Richard. There was a black stinger sticking out of the top of his eyebrow. DeHaan pulled it out, and showed it to the boys.
Then he quoted the verses above to the boys.
He also told the boys, "Your older Brother, our Lord Jesus, hung on the cross and took the STING out of death! And death, which has only one sting, can no longer hurt us. It can buzz around and scare us, but its sting is GONE!"
The "sting" of death is SIN. Because we know we are sinners, we know we deserve death. That hurts our pride.
The "strength" of sin is the LAW. God's law, and even man's law, reminds us that sin is wrong.
But PRAISE GOD for the "victory" which is in Christ Jesus!! He has indeed taken the stinger out of death!
Love ya,
