THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

The new recruits were formed into a "squad" and given an imaginary task of defending against an imaginary enemy.

The Sargent noticed that one recruit was not responding to the threat.
He went up to the young man and called him to attention. Then he bellowed, "What do you think you're doin'? Don't you realize the enemy is attacking?"

The young recruit took one step to the side, and knelt down.

The Sargent bellowed again, "NOW what are you doing?"

The recruit said, "I'm taking shelter behind an imaginary tree, sir!"

Phil 1:9-11
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

First, let me say that the threat against the church of Jesus Christ today is NOT IMAGINARY!! It is real, and definitive from several sides.

Threats are real, both from the OUTside and the INside!

Already, there are those who desire to pass laws which will prohibit pastors from preaching truth from the pulpit. There are those who desire that pastors no longer be allowed to call sin sin!

Already, there are those who refuse to believe the Bible and seek to live IN sin, justifying themselves from worldly viewpoints!

Already, there are those who call themselves by the name "Christian," and fail to live "..filled with the fruits of righteousness."

Let us pray:
That Christians everywhere might allow their love for Christ to express itself in "knowledge and all judgment!"

That Christians everywhere might "approve things that are excellent!"

That Christians everywhere might "be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ!"

And, that Christians everywere might be "filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ," and by His power in us!

And, let us pray, that these might begin and continute in ME!

Let's "fight the good fight," and "finish the course" by KEEPING "the faith!"

Love ya,
Bruce
