THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

One wintry morning an employee showed up about 30 minutes late for work. The boss asked why.

Employee, "Well, it was so icy out, every time I took a step, I slipped back two."
Boss, "Then how did you ever get here?"
Employee, "I finally gave up and decided to go home."

Matt 16:21-25
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

THOUGHT______________________________________________________________________

We are human beings. And, as it were, we are a SPIRIT, in a BODY!

So we are NATURALLY “all WRAPPED UP in OURSELVES!”

MOST humans EXIST in that arena…wanting to be SOMEONE, wanting to be NOTICED!

The problem with man is FOCUS! Focus on SELF!

WE are our own worst enemy! WE are our greatest IDOL!

But the Bible says that those who are saved are quite OPPOSITE to those in the NATURAL realm. That’s because those who are saved live in the SPIRITUAL realm, and the natural realm is SECONDARY in purpose.

You see, full self-satisfaction does not come from ATTAINMENT!

Full self-satisfaction comes from BEING what God INTENDED us to BE!

Peter wanted Jesus to remain in the flesh. But Jesus knew that in order to bring the privilege of salvation to others, He had to die to selfish desires and become what people needed.

As human beings, in order to bring the Gospel to others, we must die to our selfish desires and become what Jesus wants.

Love ya,
