THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Before I married my wife, my dear;
I was her pumpkin pie:
Her precious peach, her honey lamb,
the apple of her eye.

But after years of married life,
this thought I pause to utter:
Those fancy names are gone, and now
I'm only her bread and butter!

John 15:5-8
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

The "branches" find their purpose in the "Vine."
Our purpose, Christians, as branches of the Vine (Jesus) is to "bear MUCH fruit!"

The "branches" find their strength in the "Vine."
Without Him daily in our lives we can "do nothing" of value for God!

The "branches" find their desire in the "Vine."
Except we "abide" in Him, we cannot ASK according to His "will."
Our desires must be HIS desires. Then, we will SEE the answer to our prayers.

God Himself has initiated this wonderful union!
Take for an example the imagery of the grapevine.
God gave it existence.
Then, He brought the sunshine and the rain which supplies the ability for fruit to grow.

God has also initiated this union of Christians with Christ.
Without maintaining this union, we live "withered" lives!

OH! How VITAL it is for us to maintain a daily union with Christ our Lord!

Love ya,
Bruce
